The coming together of culture, Biblical doctrine, church tradition, personal preference, and lifestyle has been a point of contention among Christians across both time and culture. The question being, “How do Bible and culture interact with each other?” At Christian Life Community Church we have taken the approach of diversity within unity, meaning this: there are some things we believe to be non-negotiable tenets of orthodox Christianity and others that we leave room for flexibility and difference of opinion. While there is diversity around negotiable issues there is unity around the non-negotiable issues like sin, Jesus, and the Bible.

Additionally, we believe that our theology informs and instructs our worship, our relationships, our sex, our hobbies, our eating and drinking, and everything else that we engage our lives in. Where the Bible’s instruction is clear we humbly obey and submit to it. Where the Bible is silent or remains vague, we use our freedom of conscience and wisdom to guide and direct us allowing for much diversity and expression of faith. Further, our love and concern for our friends, neighbors, and those who don’t know Jesus should steer our Christian conduct and behavior.

In so doing, we are obeying the Biblical command to hold sound doctrine, to love our Christian brothers and sisters, and to avoid unnecessary divisions in the church.
